Our Plans
We are going to demolish the ice rink and the ice hall to build two new spaces. The first one will be an ice rink, a gym, and an office. Here, people can ice skate, work out, and take care of business matters. The second one will be a warehouse, a café, and a climbing area. The warehouse is for storage, the café is for food and drinks, and the climbing area is for play and exercise. So, we are creating two fun and useful places for everyone in the community!
The completed project
The different locations
Playground
The playground is located outside house 2 and acts to attract younger children and their families to the houses, to increase the number of customers.
House 1
House 1 consists of three floors and is positioned roughly where the current ice rink is. The first floor is an ice rink, as before. The second floor is a gym, and the third floor is an office.
House 2
House 2 consists of two floors and is positioned where the current ice rink is. It consists of two floors and is divided into two parts. In the part closest to the road, there is a storage area, and in the other part, there is a café and a climbing place.
Parking lot
There is a parking lot outside the houses where you can park if you want to engage in sports or other activities.
Why our solution
We consider that other alternative solutions, such as implementing an underground structure or constructing smaller buildings, may have their own challenges and limitations. Building underground structures can be costly and require significant intervention in the ground, leading to complex construction processes and increased building expenses. On the other hand, creating smaller buildings may involve compromising on available space and functionality, potentially reducing the efficiency and usability of the facility.
In our assessment of these alternatives, we found that our chosen solution offers a more balanced approach. By combining various activities within the same structure, we can optimize the use of available space without the need for extensive ground interventions or compromising the functionality of the facility. This allows us to maximize space in a cost-effective manner while maintaining a high degree of functionality and usability for all involved parties.
Additionally, our chosen solution offers benefits that are not limited solely to cost-effectiveness and size. By integrating various activities within the same area, we also promote collaboration and interaction between different groups and communities. This can create a more diverse and vibrant environment that benefits the community and promotes social integration. Therefore, we believe that our solution is the most suitable and sustainable for addressing the challenges and needs of Nacka's sports facilities, while considering both economic and practical aspects.
Different perspectives
Ecologically
You can also look at our solution from an ecological perspective. Our project brings together various activities in the same area, reducing the need for people to travel to different places for coffee or climbing, thus reducing emissions. Our project also contributes to increased greenery and biodiversity as we plant new plants around the buildings.
Economical
Our solution is sustainable in several ways. From an economic perspective, our project contributes to Nacka with tax revenues from the companies that will be active in our project. But this project also attracts people to Nacka and contributes to an increased number of people in Nacka who contribute to the welfare society and consume products and recreational activities in Nacka.
